A vacancy has become available for the role of Student Governor for the college. This opportunity is open to ALL students.
Student Governors hold a very responsible position within the college and attend meetings of the College Board of Governors, the College’s highest decision making level. Broadly, the requirements of the role will involve sitting on the Board of Governors (6 meetings per year) to represent the views of students and directions about the focus of the college. Initially, the role be up to the end of the current academic year. Students are invited to nominate themselves by the following process:
Complete the attached nomination form which includes a supporting statement, providing information about themselves and explaining why they wish to be a Student Governor (no more than 100 words)
- Return to Jacob Haigh, Student Union Officer by:
o Emailing to JHaigh03@kirkleescollege.ac.uk
o Taking to the Student Union Office at the Waterfront
o Taking to main reception at the Waterfront
o Posting to Jacob Haigh, Student Union Officer, Waterfront, Kirklees College
Deadline 12 noon, 10 February 2015
Students who wish to nominate themselves will be asked to attend the Student Conference on Wednesday 11 February 2015 to introduce themselves and give a brief summary of their reasons for wishing to take on this role as stated in their nomination form. It is intended that voting will take place on the day. If students experience any difficulty in attending but still wish nominate themselves they should contact Jacob Haigh. We do not wish to exclude any potential nominations and will endeavour to enable their nomination to be considered.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to develop transferrable and employability skills. I encourage all Students to consider this important role.
